oBaMa ChiLaxing WiTh tHe HomiEs!

I believe this assignment was very interesting and unique. I was able to learn more about Photoshop and all the exciting things you can do with your pictures. I wanted to give Obama the look as if he were just another regular and ordinary person. Some difficulties I had was making sure his size fit in with the other picture and making it look as if he were in the picture when it was taken. It took time but i think i did okay in making him fit in.

Cd CoVeR

Beginning this assignment,my first thought was this is going to be a challenge. It was hard to decide what my CD cover was going to be about. But walking around school helped me notice that so many people have a Best Friend, so that's when it hit me to do a CD cover about Best Friends. At first it was a bit difficult to begin taking the pictures because I was outside and i had to be careful that i didn't get too much light in my photo because, as i remembered, the sun is our enemy. Our next step was to fix the photos on photo shop and turn it into a CD cover. I had a few problems since it was my first time using photo shop and i had no idea what i was doing, but after messing around with the pictures i sort of got the hang of it. But as i noticed i needed a bit more light in my photos since they came out a little dark, but now i know for next time!

"The Migrant Mother"

California 1936

The artist i chose was Dorthia Lang. Dorthia Lang was born May 25, 1895 and died october 11, 1965. She was an influential documentary photographer and photojournalist. She was best known for her depression-era work for the Farm Security Administration. Lange's photographs humanized the tragic consequences of the Great Depression and profoundly influenced the development of documentary photography.

When i first saw the photograph i saw a hungry and desperate mother, with such sadness in her eyes. Along with her two childern, it gave the photograph such depression. Not only do they look tired and hungry, yet poor and vulnerable.

I believe this picture worked very well because you just look at it and it is perfect. Using this photograph in black and white was a great idea because you don't expect to see a picture like this in bright or vibrant colors. I also like this picture in black and white because it gives it a more depressing feeling and makes you think that there is actually people living like that out in the world, just by looking at the picture you are hit with a great impact of sadness. The lighting Dorthia Lang used was perfect, it was not to dark nor light, it went very well with the meaning of the photograph. I also liked how sharp the photograph looked.

What i believe Dorthia Lang was trying to communicate through the photograph was showing the strength and need of migrant workers. I believe Dorthia Lang did what she did with her piece because she liked what she saw and when she saw the migrant mother, it had a great impact on her and knew it would also have a great impact on others if they saw it too. I believe Lang was trying to say how life is good to us and how others may be vulnerable and suffering.

Honestly, I loved Dorthia Lang's work. Just by looking at her Photograph, you are just speechless and breath taken. I would not change a thing about her Photograph. Her photograph keeps me very interested and makes me think how greatful and appreciative i am of the things i have, yet it saddens me to think that people and children must suffer like that.

My 1st PORTRAIT

When i first started taking pictures i was very scared and nervous. I didn't want to mess anything up or take a bad picture. Once i started taking the pictures, i felt a bit more at ease. Some of the difficulties that i went through were getting my model to be still, but after she became comfortable with me it became easier. Overall i liked my experience and i learned a lot. Next time i will feel much more confident and relaxed when taking my other pictures.
